Little gestures, at the right time.

Brin tells you which flowers to give this month and what they mean, reminds you of the dates that matter a week ahead, and suggests date ideas for two.

Plate I

This month, in the garden

Sixty flowers, each with its season in France. The wheel of months shows what the florist will really have — and what each flower means.

Good to know: in France, the chrysanthemum is the flower of All Saints' Day; lilies are deadly to cats. Brin says so on every plate.

Plate II

What a bouquet says

Pick two to five flowers: Brin writes the sentence they make together, and turns it into a card to share or to show the florist.

This bouquet says:

Sincerity and happiness, "forget me not" and the first stirrings of love.

Plate III

The dates that matter

Birthdays, the day you met, name days (found on their own), Mother's, Father's and Grandparents' Days… Brin reminds you a week before, two days before, and on the day.

  1. D-7

    Time to choose

"Léa's birthday in 7 days. In season: the peony, sincerity and happiness."

  2. D-2

    Time to visit the florist

"It's the day after tomorrow." With a bouquet already suggested.

  3. The day

    On the day

One last reminder in the morning, at the time you chose.

And for those we don't celebrate enough: a free rhythm. "Something for Mum every 3 weeks" — the count starts again each time you note a gesture.

French Mother's Day falls on the last Sunday of May — unless it's Pentecost, when it moves to the first Sunday of June, as in 2020. Brin does the maths.

Plate IV

Together

121 ideas for outings and moments, filtered by season, budget, length and place. A random pick when you can't decide. And the list of what you want to do together, ticked off one day with a photo to remember it.

The gesture

Hold a flower: it presses into the journal.

Like slipping a flower between two pages. The journal keeps what you gave, to whom and when — so you never give the same thing twice.
